Vince McMahon Has Your Key Messaging Right Here

I'm going to venture a guess that, unlike most public relations professionals who write quotes for their upper-level management, the World Wrestling Entertainment public relations staff does not handle the writing of their executive's quotes.

In case you were off doing other things, game four of the Denver Nuggets / Los Angeles Lakers N.B.A. Western Conference Finals is scheduled for Monday, May 25 at the Pepsi Center.  It just so happens that a taping of the WWE's "Monday Night Raw" is scheduled for that same night.

Obviously they can't hold both events the same night, so the N.B.A. gets precedence over wrestling.

When asked about the scheduling snafu, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon said Stan Kroenke, the Nuggets' and Pepsi Center's owner, "did not have enough faith in his own team" to hold the date in case the team advanced that far in the playoffs.

This is a far cry from the politically correct messaging we would write for a client if there was a conflict of interest with a competing company.

I think it's safe to say the WWE plays by a different set of rules than most corporations when it comes to PR, and there's a tiny part of me that wouldn't mind tearing up the book on PR and playing their game for a day.
