Brad’s Blogroll

I've been at this blogging thing for three weeks, but I have not yet introduced my readers to the blogs that occupy my blogroll.

How rude of me.

Shall we?

Brad's Blogroll

  • Chris BroganChris is a social media strategist, but he's not all social media all the time.  I like that.
  • Daily Writing Tips - This blog is exactly what you think it is.  Some of the tips are no-brainers, but it's always a good idea to stay refreshed.
  • Firstshowing.net - Okay, this blog isn't related to anything having to do with my profession, but it is a good site for reading about the latest movie news.
  • From the Blue Seats - This blog is written by Michael DiLorenzo, director of corporate communications for the National Hockey League.
  • Get Rich Slowly – This blog, as the title suggests, is is devoted to sensible personal finance.  You won't find any "get rich quick" schemes.  The author believes everyone can get rich slowly if they're smart.  In a crappy economy, this blog is especially relevant.
  • Mental Floss - In a nutshell, Mental Floss is where knowledge flunkies get their fix.  And even though I have bombed the on-line Jeopardy test twice, I try to cram as much information into my brain as possible.  This is a good place to start.
  • Peter Shankman - According to his "About" page, Shankman is "what happens when you harness the power of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and make it work to your advantage."  He's also launched Help a Reporter, which connects journalists with the sources they need via social media.
  • ProBlogger - This blog bills itself as a resource for making money blogging, but I've found that it's more valuable to me, a beginning blogger, in that it consistently offers up tips on how to become a better blogger.
  • Sarah Evans – No, I'm not linking to the country music star (although, if you do a quick search for "Sarah Evans" like I did, well, there are worse ways to spend your time).  This Sarah Evans is a communications professional who utilizes emerging technologies to bring her expertise to the masses.  She's also one of the first people I followed on Twitter.
  • Scobleizer - If you don't know who Robert Scoble is by now, you're late to the game.  He's a tech blogger and evangelist who's usually at the forefront of everything technology.  He also has his own Wikipedia page
  • Scott Monty – Scott heads up social media at Ford Motor Company.  Great person to follow if you're interested in seeing how a huge company handles their social media presence.
  • Seth Godin – Seth is a bestselling author, entrepreneur and agent of change.  He's a brilliant marketing mind, and his blog posts, while short and succinct, are packed with food for thought.
  • Sports PR Blog – When I was still in school, I had an opportunity to do an internship with the now-defunct International Hockey League.  In fact, when I graduated from college, I sent a resume to every single Major League Baseball and National Hockey League team.  To borrow a sports analogy, I was shut out.  I follow this blog because (a) it's a good read, and (b) I can live vicariously through the blogger.
  • TechCrunch - If you're a start-up, or the PR person for a start-up, this is the place to be mentioned (as long as it's positive).
  • The Bad Pitch Blog – If you're a PR professional like me, this is the last blog you want to get coverage in, because it likely means you screwed up; however, it's a good read to see what not to do.
  • The Social - CNET News' Caroline McCarthy explores all aspects of the Web's gregarious side.  She is also addicted to Twitter and Facebook.
  • The Sound of Young America – As described on their page, The Sound of Young America is a public radio show about things that are awesome.  Host Jesse Thorn hosts in-depth discussions with personalities from entertainment and the arts.  The blog merely serves to update its readers to new podcasts.

  • The Writer's Coin – This Chicagoan loves writing, baseball, and books.  The personal finance thing kinda started on a whim.
  • Wright Creativity - Blogger Kristen Wright seeks to help her readers unleash the inner creative genius found in all of us.  (Okay, in most of us.)
